M/FW 21 – Aquarium Runway

M/FW Aquarium Runway. Photography supplied by Kate&Co PR. Photographed by Kelly Defina.

In a M/FW first, the corridors of the SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium were transformed to runways, as models took to two levels of the iconic tourist attraction with tropical fish and corals as their backdrop.

Featuring Arnsdorf, búl, ELK, Gorman, Grace Lillian Lee, REMUSE, SISTER STUDIOS and SZN, this underwater inspired show was styled by stylist and editor Abby Bennett. It was an inspirational show by local designers who are taking steps toward slow fashion and sustainable practices. Despite the show feeling slightly disconnected due to the layout of the aquarium (which meant more down-time between looks), it did allow the audience to appreciate each garment and how they were assembled with thought for the environment yet without compromising on design or quality. It was also wonderful to see how other Melbourne attractions and locations are being used with gusto and creativity throughout this year’s festival.
