Opening as support for Colombian superstar, J Balvin, was New York based electronic music duo, Sofi Tukker. Consisting of globe trotting members Sophie Hawley-Weid and Tucker Halpern, who rose to fame with their popular track, Purple Hat, Hawley-Weid was born in Germany but grew up in Canada and the US, moving to Italy to study and then on to Brazil thanks to her love of the culture and the Portuguese language which has inspired many Sofi Tukker songs. Wearing a signature bralette and pants combo, Sophie sparkled in diamantes with matching choker and brought the energy, rounding out their support set with Drinkee.

J Balvin arrived on the stage mirroring Sofi Tukker’s silver outfit, kitted out in a metallic silver jacket and light wash jeans, he was accompanied by an incredible troupe of dancers and immense production value to adoring fans. The Colombian singer who has been referred to as the “Prince of Reggaeton” is one of the best-selling Latin artists of all-time, with over 35 million records sold worldwide. And he did not disappoint his loyal fanbase, putting on an amazing performance that had everyone off their seats and moving to the fiery rhythm. One of his most popular tracks, Mi Gente, shook Rod Laver Arena as the spectacle that is a J Balvin show rocked Melbourne.
