L’Oreal Garnier AO Wave Launch

Global skincare brand, Garnier, is serving up a “greener summer of tennis” at The Australian Open (AO) 2020, which is currently underway at Melbourne Park.

Returning as the official skin and haircare partner for the AO, Garnier’s ‘Coast To Court’ Activation highlights the brand’s “commitment to being increasingly more responsible and sustainable, by bringing to life an idea that marries tennis with the brand’s pledge for a world with more beauty and less plastic.”

The brand is using the activation to introduce to tennis enthusiasts and the public at large, the very first prototype “green net” – a competition grade tennis net which has been tested on court at Melbourne Park – made from netting offcuts that were destined to hit landfill. The “green net” will be exclusively showcased at Garnier’s two activation sites at the AO, which will include an interactive giant misting wave positioned at Fed Square and a branded zone located by Showcourt 3.

“Garnier is committed to sustainable sourcing and reducing our environmental footprint to support our future generations,” says Alex Shadbolt, Garnier AU Marketing Manager.

“If we can engage in a conversation, and offer a fun and interactive activation that truly resonates with Australians, then it’s the first step in creating a more sustainable future”.

Garnier will be joined by its AO 2020 ambassadors – Laura Wells (environmentalist, climate change activist and model) along with Sophie Cachia (blogger and business woman) and Brooke Blurton (youth worker and former Bachelor contestant) – each woman has their own passion for beauty and sustainability.

The best news is, ‘Coast To Court’ will live on beyond AO 2020. Garnier’s long- term goal is to continue to create more “green nets” and build a program that can supply them to grassroots clubs and schools around Australia. We certainly look forward to that initiative taking flight!
