What an absolute delight and real treat it was to attend the touring show of one of my all-time favourite tv shows RocKwiz for ‘Rockwiz Salutes: Mushroom 50.

I lucky enough to see Julia Zemiro work her captivating magic on stage, and she is flawless in her razor sharp wit, comedic timing, expansive music knowledge and warm nature (she also knows how to drop an f-bomb when required). As a fellow journalist, I have always admired Julia for her brilliance, compassion, talent, charm, charisma and intelligence (not to mention her multi-lingual capabilities!).

Brian Nankervis was amazing as the co-host; never missing a beat and keeping the laughs coming. It was an evening for the ages, as the audience and contestants enjoyed a nostalgic and hilarious evening full of music and history.

There to celebrate the anniversary of Michael Gudinski’s phenomenal passion for Aussie music were some veteran stars including Mark Seymour (whose rendition of Leonardo’s Bride ‘Only When I’m Sleeping’ induced goosebumps a-plenty), the amazing and incomparable Vika and Linda Bull, and the original rock chic Adalita. 🤘

Newly signed talent included Wilsn and my favourite new artist Didirri – both musicians were exceptional to watch and so beautiful in their artistry.

A brilliant night at the Palais Theatre was had by all in attendance, and it was only fitting that we were just across the road from the original Rockwiz home of the Gershwin Room at the Hotel Esplanade in my beloved St Kilda.
