NICHOLAS K – S/S 2012 | Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week

Photography by Amanda Fordyce.

Nicholas K’s Spring/ Summer collection for men and women was the perfect initial show for the very first day of fashion week; easing us slowly but very much willingly into this dreamy runway.
There were white drapings of silk and flowing headbands. Layers upon layers of beige, birch, sand and off-white accompanied by very cool and pretty side braids.
Plenty of ‘deconstructed’ looks made up of unique cuts and material – pulled-up sleeves combined with hooded tops and jackets cropped at the back, or a-lined to perfection.
Sensational leather jackets atop beautiful flowing chiffon. Aviators courtesy of Ray Ban and chunky sky high suede heels (Nicholas K designed) were the most fitting accessories to layering for summer – at its best! As well as shoes for the guys from Walk Over USA.
Subtle khakis and muted greys were then surpassed by the billowing jade gown that glided down the catwalk to a Mediterranean guitarra soundtrack, mutated with a deep beat.
Nicholas K’s collection was luxury meets laid back chic, that appears so effortless, yet executed with the highest of precision.
Extremely wearable fashion pieces (I want one of those luscious light camel coloured leather jackets!), beautiful in their elegant simplicity, yet highly technical construction, to provide an intelligent and gorgeous collection to be coveted.
