
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences honored 17 of the brightest and most creative students from Colleges and Universities around the world at the 44th Student Academy Awards® ceremony, held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
The Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal awards were announced and presented by actors Amber Tamblyn (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit); producer, author and motivational speaker, DeVon Franklin; and director Jennifer Yuh Nelson (best known for her directorial debut Kung Fu Panda 2. Yuh is the first woman to solely direct an animated feature from a major Hollywood studio).
