VAMFF 2018 – The Plaza Reveal

VAMFF CEO, Graeme Lewsey, welcoming media to The Plaza reveal. All photography by Lara Antonelli-Leorke.

If you didn’t get along to all the glitz and glamour of opening night Gala Runways last night at VAMFF, never fear, you have an entire week to immerse yourself in Australia’s most covetable fashion event! PTPM was invited to The Plaza reveal yesterday morning, which was a spectacular showcase of what both guests and the public can enjoy from this week of fashion, fine food, wine and shopping!

This year, The Plaza is open to general public, not just ticket holders, so everyone can get in on the action!

Featuring the Westfield Doncaster Fashion Kaleidoscope – an amazing mirrored selfie-centric room to do all the ‘boomerangs’ you could ever hope for, complete with stunning (and real) orchid bouquets.

There’s the very cool 6ft6 Wine Garden, with signature cocktails and grassy seated area, complete with neon signs for all your photo needs.

You can shop all the looks from the runway instantly with the Visa Shop The Runway Pop Up – a place where you can search through the runway looks, and touch and feel the merchandise. Your wish list of items is then emailed direct to you, so you can start purchasing the minute you get home!

The Asahi Beer Bar is a spacious and comfortable area to sip the night away…

Whilst the Mercedes Benz Lounge is for corporate guests and the Virgin Australia Runway Bar is for celebrity guests of the festival. The Bar is complete with branded purple and red – from the baby’s breath bouquets and roses, to the mauve carpet and outdoor seating. You can also nab yourself some personalised luggage tags created by the wonderful The Daily Edited (tde) in an array of colours.

The gorgeous Mistwood Gin area is sure to be a favourite, with its hanging florals and botanical archway canopy for posing under, whilst the Chandon S cart will be pouring glasses of Chandon S (infused with orange bitters) all night long.

Sure to be the most popular place in The Plaza is of course the spectacular Priceline Pharmacy Beauty Bar, set in a custom-made glass atrium with soft pink furnishings and expert beauty advice and products from one of Australia’s most trusted beauty retailers.

The stunning supermodel Sam Harris, together with Priceline Makeup Director, Sarah Laidlaw and Hair Director, Kenneth Stoddart, are on hand (when not performing their magic backstage or on the runway) to offer expert beauty and hair advice.

Guests can also purchase beauty products from the very first Priceline vending machine located outside the atrium, and at discounted prices.

Feeling peckish? Then the uber popular and absolutely delicious Mr Miyagi is on hand for either a sit-down chef’s mini degustation menu (which must be booked prior) or a pick of two Bento Boxes to devour before or after the shows.

Inside the hallowed halls of the Royal Exhibition Bulding, you can view the Woolmark Prize Exhibition, which runs through various designers who have won the competition, including Dion Lee and Amxandernow (designed by Rong Jake Chen and Jason Alexander Pang).
